Wellbeing Architecture
Tiny House on wheels COCOON mobile wood Architecture Prioritising biology, sustainability, and simplicity. Handcrafted from exclusive pine wood. COCOON mobile architectures are free from glue, chemicals, and plastics.
Moon wood construction
Since 1991 glue free constructions
Produced by WEIDLICH Mondholz Manufactur, a family-run workshops in the German Bavarian Alps region, Since 1991 with experience dedicated to glue-free moon wood furniture. This rare, privileged expertise is practiced by only a few consistent craftsmen in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Japan.
Reverse engineering
The walls of the COCOON Freelancer are dimensioned to provide the required structural stability, while remaining as lightweight as possible for transport as a load on standard vehicle, drivable with a regular driving license. The structure contains a volume of pure solid wood equivalent to approximately 32 tables measuring 200 × 100 × 4 cm.
World Record Insulation
Holz100 Patented air pockets between wood layers provide insulation that is twice as effective as standard glued wood, enabling “passive house” standards without additional synthetic insulation. Up to 36cm the thick solid wood walls provides high thermal storage, naturally regulating indoor temperature and humidity.
Health Benefits
Spacious perception
COCOON’s interior is designed to be perceived as a spacious, generous, and non-confining architecture with the potential to reduce stress and claustrophobic anxiety. Pleasant natural materials, an open layout, and large panoramic windows with wide exterior views and bright natural light create a strong sense of openness and mental relief, promoting a calm and comfortable living environment.
Glue-free timber construction
The entire construction unites ancestral wisdom with modern precision and mastery of woodcraft. Minimalistic designed and engineering with mechanical connections including sophisticated expansion joints. Except for the sliding door and windows, no glue, adhesives or surface coatings are used, allowing the structure to expand naturally, breathe, ventilate, and dry completely.
Biohacking human potentials
Natural living environment may be particularly supportive of rest, sleep, and recovery for individuals who are sensitive to their surroundings, including those affected by allergies, respiratory sensitivities, or heightened environmental awareness. It also aligns well with lifestyles centered on physical performance, regeneration, self-optimization and biohacking-oriented lifestyles
Biophilic toxin free environment
The construction of untreated natural materials releases no harmful VOCs or toxic emissions. It regulates humidity, prevents condensation, trapped moisture, and mold formation. The result is a pure indoor atmosphere that improve deep sleep, recovery, heart health, cognitive clarity, and long-term physiological balance.
Maximizing wood resilience
Built entirely from pine wood harvested using a traditional winter method during the waning moon phase. At this time, trees are in sap rest, with moisture bound within the cell structure rather than freely present in pores and cavities. This results in lower sugar content, making the wood naturally more stable, resilient, and resistant to fungi, insects, pests, and long-term deterioration, without the need for chemical preservatives or contaminating treatments.
EMF Electromagnetic shielding
The solid wood walls and vacuum glass contribute to a reduction of electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure, including high-frequency radiation from sources such as mobile networks. This supports a calmer indoor environment, which some individuals may perceive as more conducive to rest, sleep, and recovery.
Using a broadband RF meter, measurements recorded high ambient electromagnetic radiation levels exceeding 14,000 µW/m² outside the structure. Inside the COCOON, measurements were significantly lower, registering below 50 µW/m², even with the sliding door open.
Thermal & sound insulation
The mass of the solid wood walls and the efficiency of the vacuum glass with a insulation performance superior to conventional triple glazing, provides effective thermal and acoustic insulation. Solid wood acts as a natural thermal buffer, storing heat and releasing it gradually, while also dampening sound through its density.
Circadian rhythm & sleep quality
Following insights from neuroscience and sleep research, such as those shared by Andrew Huberman, exposure to early morning daylight, evening light, and the avoidance of artificial blue-light exposure at night support the body’s natural circadian rhythm. This can help regulate hormonal cycles, support immune function, and promote deeper, more restorative sleep, forming a foundation for recovery, cognitive performance, and overall wellbeing. COCOON wellbeing architecture makes it easier to build a lifestyle that encourages discipline and healthy daily habits.
hypoallergenic & healing materials
Pleasant and balanced temperature regulation and comfort throughout all seasons. A pure wool blanket naturally regulates warmth, absorbs moisture, and remains fresh over time. It is inherently flame-retardant and benefits from natural self-cleaning properties. The mattress is filled with wild-grown kapok and encased in an untreated cotton cover. It is naturally breathable, hypoallergenic, and moisture-repellent.
WHO about wellbeing
According to the World Health Organization, health is “a state of complete physical, mental, and social Wellbeing.” COCOON Modular Wellbeing Architecture focuses on designing Biophilia spaces & sustainable environments that foster human potentials in physical and mental health, AttiaDesign, shaping values and culture, together!
Environmental mission
COCOON represents grateful & friendly humans who respect the environment, landscape, and local culture. Its users explore places with humility and awareness, observing friendly, consuming locally, and moving gently through nature. They take responsibility for the spaces they visit, picking up the waste that calls to be removed, guided by the intention to take an impression and leave each place unchanged or slightly better than before.

Extensive test drives on a flatbed vehicle across German Autobahns, Alpine Swiss and Austrian mountain roads, Spanish gravel tracks, French country roads, Danish coastlines, and Norwegian fjord routes, including extreme wind, rain, and storm conditions, demonstrated stable, predictable driving behavior comparable to passenger vehicles, vans, caravans, and trucks.
Consumption & Speed Performance
At a cruising speed of 90 km/h, the COCOON-freelancer achieved efficient fuel consumption of under 9 L/100 km even with its uncompromising, cubic aerodynamic form and heavy load weight.
As a 3.5-ton vehicle, it also demonstrated stable and confident performance at German Autobahns speeds of up to 140 km/h.
Regulations
Vehicles under 3.500 kg weight are generally classified as a passenger vehicle rather than a commercial truck in most regions worldwide,
Benefiting from regular car advantages like parkings, toll, and road access rules. However, specific local rules may vary by country or region, and vehicle dimensions such as height or length can influence access in certain urban or restricted areas.
• 3.10 m height needed for parking, passes and bridges to get trough.
Sustainable Alternative
Conventional recreational vehicles (RVs) are typically constructed using laminated composite panels made from synthetic polymers, Fiberglass, Carbon fiber, plastics, foams, resins, plywood, MDF, and aluminum sheets. These materials are bonded with structural adhesives and sealants, often containing volatile compounds that can release emissions over time.

Moon Wood is a special type of harvesting timber during the cold winter months, specifically from the waning moon phase up to the new moon. During this period, trees are in sap rest, with water tightly bound within their cells rather than freely available in pores and cavities. This results in wood that dries with minimal shrinkage and swelling, reducing cracks and warping. Additionally, moon wood contains less sugar during the waning moon phase, making it naturally more resistant to fungi, worms, and insects. This inherent protection eliminates the need for conventional, toxic wood preservatives, benefiting both the environment and human health.
This traditional harvesting method was used in building ancient temples and mountain huts, whose durability and resilience are still evident today. For more information, refer to the works of:
